Don’t go looking through the things you won right away, wait until you get home. I might be a temptation, but it is worth the wait. It is important to get EVERYTHING cleared out of the unit, right after you win it.
The reason for this is simple, the owner has paying customers looking to rent out a space, and he doesn’t want you taking your time clearing out stuff. Think of it as being at a drive-thru restaurant, once you get your food, you don’t just sit in the drive-thru lane eating your food, you get out of the way, the restaurant has other hungry paying customers.
On the other hand, sometimes you might be able to bargain with the complex owner to get some extended time. This is useful, if there is a huge amount of items in the unit that you won, or especially large items, like large appliances.
Usually the complex owner will allow you a month to clear out things, if you pay a months rental fees.
It is as simple as that, if you really do need to take your time clearing out items, just pay an extra $35 or whatever the rate is, and take your time going through things.
